Growing up with the salt air of the Delaware coast, Captain Chris Swisher turned a lifelong passion for these local waters into a professional calling. With decades of experience navigating the unique tidal flows of the Indian River Bay and the shifting sands of the Atlantic coastline, he has developed an intuitive understanding of where the fish hold in every season. His background isn't just in finding the fish, but in understanding the delicate ecosystem of Bethany Beach, Lewes, and Rehoboth, ensuring that every guest gains a deeper appreciation for the habitat while they are on the reel.
Chris is known among the local angling community for his calm, patient demeanor and his "fish-first" philosophy. Whether he is guiding a seasoned angler through a technical light-tackle hookup or helping a young child land their very first Spot or Flounder, his focus remains on providing a safe, educational, and grounded environment. He believes that a great day on the water is defined by the quality of the experience and the knowledge shared, rather than just the weight of the cooler.
Safety and professionalism are the cornerstones of his operation. As a USCG-licensed captain, Chris maintains a rigorous standard for his equipment and his vessel, ensuring that every departure from Bethany Beach or Lewes is executed with precision. His expertise in reading real-time conditions—from water temperature changes to bait migration patterns—gives guests the peace of mind that they are in the hands of a guide who prioritizes their well-being and success in equal measure.
Our Boat: The Nomad
The Nomad is a 23-foot Jones Brothers Cape Fisherman, a vessel specifically selected for its versatility and legendary stability in the mid-Atlantic chop. Known as a "guide’s favorite," this center console features a modified-vee hull that allows it to glide through the shallow reaches of the Indian River Bay while maintaining a dry, comfortable ride when heading nearshore. Its wide-open layout and 100% composite construction provide ample room for a group of four to five anglers to move freely, whether you are casting fly lines or jigging over a submerged wreck.
